1971 engagement[edit]

According to Time magazine in 1971, she was engaged to the much younger Beaudoin Mills. No indication found if this resulted in another marriage. Dl2000 02:50, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Early life[edit]

"Born Hermione Ferdinanda Gingold in London, England, she was the daughter of a high-standing Vienna-born Jewish financier James Gingold and Kate Walter or Walters, an English-born housewife. Her marriage to Lionel in 1894 was conducted by the Chief Rabbi." There is no mention anywhere else of "Lionel" - should this read "Her marriage to James"? Hermine -- Hermione[edit]

"...his Austrian-born wife, Hermine, after whom Hermione Gingold was named."

It seems fairly clear that "Hermine" should be "Hermione," but you just never know. I was going to check the original source, but there doesn't seem to be any citation for this.

Gingold in 1973, by Allan Warren[edit]

Guy. I apologize for saying this in advance. But, IMHO, this photo of Ms. Gingold is absolutely horrible. This makes her look unconditionally ugly. Can't we find a better image of the late actress somewhere? Issues with Filmography?[edit]

After checking it today, it appears that at least some of Mrs. Gingold's filmography has been conflated with that of Hermione Baddeley, with whom she frequently co-starred. What stood out was "Aristocats" in 1970, which in fact featured Baddeley.

Oddly enough, I was checking Gingold's filmography because I was told by my fiancé that she played the maidservant in Mary Poppins, which was also Hermione Baddeley- so it appears this may be a common problem.
