Retired Numbers[edit]

My roommate and I were reading the Wikipedia article on Red Grange last night and according to the article his number is one of three retired numbers at the University of Illinois. As Illinois' students we were curious as to who the other numbers belonged to and we did a bit of research and unfortunately didn't find much. In fact, we couldn't even find evidence supporting anyone's number being retired on any university website; however, a few messageboard posts and the Wikipedia article on a funny guy both pointed towards Grange and Butkus having the only two retired numbers in Illini history. Consequently, we decided to edit the Red Grange article and change it to state that his number is one of only two to be retired throughout Illini history. We'd appreciate it if anyone else could shed some light on this issue. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.136.197.127 (talkcontribs)

That Berman Story[edit]

That Berman story is so hackneyed. Tommy Lee Jones, as Ty Cobb, uses it about himself in the movie "Cobb"(1994) [1], and I've also seen it attributed to at least three other athletes, including Don Bradman. Clearly Berman said it, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that Halas didn't. -- GWO (talk) 08:10, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Web Site[edit]

listed as "Web site" * Website for The Galloping Ghost: Red Grange, an American Football Legend, a biography of Harold "Red" Grange, is clearly not a web site for Grange or anything connected with Grange, the Chicago Bears, U. of Illinois or the NFL. No site exists specifically for Grange. I didn't see the point in the link for that site in the section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.31.12.211 (talk) 23:30, 5 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
