2nd Rate media watch / Interviews with Hughesy / Vox pops/ Segment Titles[edit]

Will someone please listen to me? I've been to nearly ninety tapings, TRUST ME, I KNOW. They film two episodes per fortnightly taping. Second Rate Media Watch is ONLY in the first of the two shows and is more media-orientated than The Great Unwashed. The Interview with Hughesy is on the SECOND of the two and is based on the vox pops he asks in the foyer beforehand. I've been watching this show since February 2002 and attending tapings since June 2002, trust me on this one! --Ryttu3k 06:16, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, the Interview with Hughesy (quite common) is where Hughes wears a costume or hat and is asked questions by the rest of the panel. 2nd Rate Media Watch (quite rare nowadays) is their take on the ABC's Media Watch, where newspaper items are selected and ridiculed. It is not much different from "Movers and Shakers" (The main segment in each episode). --EatMyShortz 12:33, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  - No, they're two seperate segments (take it from a taping veteran!). Hughesy's interview is based on the Vox Pops he did immediately beforehand, and is on once a fortnight (the second episode filmed each taping). Second Rate Media Watch tends to use more multimedia, like video footage, as opposed to Movers & Shakers, which is purely based on newspaper articles. And also, SRMW and Hughesy's interview never appear on the same episode, since SRMW is only on the first episode recorded per taping.     - That's great about what goes on in the studio (you lucky bastard). but this about how it appears when on TV. When on TV 2nd rate media watch is when Hughesy gets interviewed and doesn't always happen with a Vox Pops before it.       - I watch (well, watched) the episodes on TV as well, you know. Okay, let's see, actual examples... ah, here's a recent one (from my own information). The taping filmed on the 31st of October. The episode that went to air on the 1st of November, featuring Akmal Saleh and Denise Scott, featured a Second Rate Media Watch segment (identified by name). This was the one about deep-fried coke and was supplimented by video footage, as opposed to a newspaper article.

The episode after it, the 8th of November screening featuring Adam Richard and Steve Moneghetti, featured Vox Pops (the question being, "How would you like to die?" and featuring the memorable answer, "In your arms, Hughesy!") and was immediately followed by one of Hughes's interviews - as Phar Lap, based on an article which gave new information about Phar Lap's death. It can sometimes be a tenuous link, but there is always a link. (Another example would be the Vox Pop question being, "What would you like to achieve before you're fifty", with the interview being Dave as Peter Costello, 'celebrating' his forty-ninth birthday.)

And yes, as far as I know, the interview doesn't actually have a name. 'Interview with Hughesy' or 'Hughesy's interview' (or occasionally 'Dave's hat') have all been used by the crew at times. --Ryttu3k 17:30, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Enough Rope[edit]

I disagree with the comment "beating long-time rival Enough Rope." Why are they rivals? has it ever been stated? They are on TV on different days and are pretty much in different genres (Enough Rope claims to be a comedy, but it is a very different version from The Glass House.) Any objections if i remove it? They're not rivals show-wise, but they have been rivals for the award, since they're technically in the same category. Until the last awards, every time GH has been nominated, ER ended up winning it. That's what I took that line to mean. --Ryttu3k 14:07, 1 September 2006 (UTC) ^[1][reply]

Suggestions for moving to Network Ten?[edit]

"Anderson mentioned on the show that they may look at Network Ten as a possible home for the show in the future."

Can anyone confirm this statement? I can't find any proof of this, and besides it sounds more like a throwaway gag or joke rather than a serious consideration, knowing Will Anderson.

Yeah not sure about that, he did say it on the radio when speaking to the Cage...I am sure in the next couple of days there will be more press about this. DVD[edit]

A Best Of DVD was recently released, spanning the years of 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. It also has special features including a Q&A with the Cast & Crew

This is a recent addition to the article by an anonymous contributor. Just wanting to know other opinions...is this worth a mention in the article or is it simply promoting a product? I'm thinking the latter. Cheers BrightLights 13:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
