Improved synopsis[edit]

The current synopsis reads like the intro to the game itself or an advertisement. Could someone who knows what it's trying to say rewrite it in plain and straightforward English in a way that a person who has not played the games and possibly has not played any videogame could understand? 67.150.30.117 (talk) 03:35, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the following: 'Primarily taking place in the 26th century, the franchise centers on conflicts between humans and a variety of alien species. The eponymous Halos are immense ring-shaped superweapons created by a race known as the Forerunners to destroy the parasitic Flood, but which the alien Covenant mistake for religious artifacts of transcendence.'
Let me know if it reads better without that information in the article. N2O Calico (talk) 00:14, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That seems like a detriment to the article; the lead now contains no information on what the franchise is actually about. I also don't think the IP was talking about the lead at all, but rather the plot section. I don't really see any feedback that's actionable: it isn't an 'advertisement' to tell people what happens roughly in the games, and yeah, an introduction to the franchise is probably going to sound like an introduction. Strange Plot Section[edit]

The 'plot' fragment for this page starts off with a heavy amount of obscure lore (that I as a Halo fan was even unaware of) that serves as a poor synopsis for the franchise itself. Maybe the plot section should focus on the series being about a future humanity undergoing a genocidal war at the hands of a religious covenant of aliens. As I understand it, the precursors are background fluff and the part about ancient aliens and humanity giving their pets drugs doesn't seem to be a focus of ANY of the games --2A00:23C6:4518:3101:9DD6:7467:E474:337C (talk) 19:21, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The plot section covers the entire franchise, not just the plot of the mainline video games. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 22:37, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Installation 01 got a burst of coverage back in the day, but it effectively doesn't exist as a product. Coming up on eight years since it was announced, there's not even a playable form of the game anymore; they announced back in July they were switching engines and that most content besides art and design was lost. More to the point, that news and anything since the burst of coverage from 2015 and 2017 hasn't been covered in secondary sources, and most of what's currently in the article is prose line lists of things that didn't come to fruition or are obviated by more recent events (there's PC versions of Halo now.) This feels like something that can be covered in the main article in context with other fan efforts. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 19:53, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose The game is still posting development updates, with the last one being just yesterday, so it's premature to declare it dead and goes into the realm of WP:CRYSTALBALL to say that it probably won't be made. If the project had been announced as abandoned, I may have changed my tune, but we're talking about an active fangame in progress that has gotten significant coverage. There is no apparent reason to merge. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 06:38, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fair question to ask. The only "coverage" since 2017 from the search engines is this teaser. Which may as well not have been published at all for as useful as it is. It'd probably be fair to merge it. Not sure what it ends up looking like in this article since this article doesn't even mention the project today. Izno (talk) 02:30, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose It's not a halo game. It may be based off it but it's not. Why would we add to to the main franchise page something that has nothing to do with it and is merely a product from fans of the series?Spooderman6920 (talk) 16:27, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Because the franchise article already covers non-official and fan content. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 18:06, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
