Vexillological symbols: copyright tags

Can you please put an appropriate image copyright tag, e.g. {{GFDL}} or {{PD-self}} on each of your vexillological symbol images (e.g. Image:FIAV 21.png). Comments on your talk page

I've noticed a few times that you've removed comments from your talk page here, leaving a red "warning message". Speaking from experience, any "negative criticism" you feel is probably being out-weighed by your response. If it were me leaving one of those notes, and I hadn't intended to be overly critical, I'd be a bit put-off. You're welcome to manage this page as you see fit, but can I offer a bit of advice from my experiences? Try to not read too much into things. Respond to the criticism, and point out to the others in your response that you feel their comments might have been a bit harsh. Hello! It looks like you were the one who added vexillological symbols to various "Flag of" articles, such as Flag of the People's Republic of China. Just as a note, an image doesn't display properly if it's in the caption of another image. I'll move any ones I find into the article text. If you could do the same, I'd appreciate it. List of ZIP codes in the United States

Hi there! I noticed you added a section to this article, grouping ZIP codes numerically by first two digits. Are you planning to add anything to those currently non-existing articles? If so, can you tell me what you are using as a source? Also, how will those lists be updated (hopefully in sync with other articles)? I am not just curious—I've been working on the articles on ZIP codes a while ago, and would like to help if I can.

Thanks for the clarification. I have my doubts about using FIPS codes for counties, though. This does not look user-friendly, as these codes are not really in common use. Also, are you going to list special ZIP codes as well (those assigned primarily to businesses and other similar entities)? What about updates (USPS makes changes to ZIP codes distribution fairly often)? Overall, however, the system looks pretty good—way better than the listings we currently have. Plus, it's about time someone put the ZIPs information in order.

Here is another resource for you, which I found to be of immense value: Melissa Data (check their main page as well). They have bunches of additional information not available through USPS, although they limit the number of queries you can submit in a day (which is easily overcome by utilizing proxies). Interstate Highway

I don't understand what you mean - "no two three-digit Interstates in the same state can share a number" is correct. Is there something else that it conflicts with? --SPUI (talk) 15:15, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

The mainline can and usually does enter more than one state. For instance, there are I-190s in New York and Illinois. But there cannot be two I-190s in New York, even at opposite ends of the state. --SPUI (talk) 21:37, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I try to be a good-natured Wikipedian whenever I can, but any time I am sent a message with regard to bad edits, copyright violations, or any other alleged negative contributions, it is involuntarily interpreted as either an assault on my intelligence, an action I take extremely personally, or a pure threat, and I do not appreciate such actions taken against me. If you are going to post a message on this page, it must be a positive comment. Any comments that I interpret as destructive will be disregarded and removed from this page. Thank you. Victoria Dot Map image

I really don't want to raise this, as it appears not to have gotten a very good reception last time, but image tagging is quite important. Currently it is tagged as PD, which is clearly not what you intended when you uploaded it as GFDL. Further, in my mind, whether or not it is copyright Gov of BC or not is not clear. US 101

Is there a reason you don't link your user name to your talk page in your signature, so I don't have to go into the history to reach it? Anyway, a spur of US 101 would likely be X01 (just like a spur of any other 3dUS), and 101 is special because it is meant as a 2dUS. 163, 400, 412 and 425 don't fit into the numbering system at all, much less as a 2dUS. --SPUI (talk) 00:33, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

As for US 101, who's to say that AASHTO couldn't make a US 901 as a branch of US 101? That's not really the main point anyway - 101 is a 2-digit route that happens to have 10 as its first digit. Deleting negative criticism from your talk page is certainly your right if you wish (even though many would suggest it was bad form to "sanitise" criticism in this way). However, you go about this in a particularly inflammatory way, with the "general violation" messages and the hostile "posting rules" on your Talk: page. You say above, "If you are going to post a message on this page, it must be a positive comment." — this is not an acceptable demand. Community norms are that you can delete critical comments on your talk page, but you cannot forbid them. The best way to deal with negative criticism is 1) see if there's any substance to the criticism, and if so, modify your behaviour accordingly; else 2) if there's no substance to the criticism, simply ignore it, or explain why you disagree. Posting inflammatory "General violation" messages will only make people angry, and is not in line with the Wikipedia policies of Assume good faith and Civility. — Matt Crypto 21:57, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
