Re: MC2[edit]

  • Hi, any reason MC2 chronology I added has to be part of the talk page rather than the main article? Just curious. User talk:Jimmyflowers

Because it's a big, contextless, infodump, basically. If you did it yourself (don't be offended, people DO copy stuff from other sites and claim it as their own), you might want to see if the Marvel Chronology Project would be interested in it, or start an equivalent site of your own.

Oh, and it's not polite to put new stuff at the top of talk pages - always add new sections to the bottom with the + link beside "edit this page" - SoM 18:25, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Hi. Thanks for the response. It's not actually contextless. The point of the chronology (which I did do myself) is to allow people to read the history of something in chronological order. Plus, it also serves to show everyone all the titles in that "universe."

You can do the latter with a bibilograpy (simple list of titles in alphabetical or publication order, with publication date. Wouldn't be very long in the case of MC-2, with only seven titles, eight if you count LHS). And I think the number of people likely to use the information as you feel, is a very small %age of readers on an already-low traffic article. Besides, lists in general are discouraged in Wikipedia whereever possible, and that is a BIG list, that can't be turned into prose, which pushes the category links very far down. It's more likely to annoy than anything.

  • I think it's very useful. The Marvel Chronology Project is only interested in mainstream chronology information. Please reconsider. Jimmyflowers 21:06, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well, I linked you directly to their MC-2 board, and they have 2099, AoA and Kilraven chronology pages (none of which are MU-chronology related). You can but try, especially if you already have the data. Or you can found your own page and link to it from the article.

Tell you what, find me five examples (not done by you/done prior to this post) of the same sort of thing in WP (i.e., full chronologies, splitting FBs out from the issues, not bibliographies), and I won't take it out. - SoM 22:29, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
