Zooey Deschanel[edit]

Unless I hear any blocks I'm removing the reference to Zooey Deschanel in the introduction. It gets mentioned later in the "personal life" section so it's redundant and his spouse isn't what makes him notable, so it doesn't make sense to put that in the "Cliff Notes" for the article. 66.187.233.202 (talk) 21:09, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Nor was the discussion "gay" :) Snoopydance 01:22, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody should add that he is a member of The Revolutionary Hydra. LK 20:46, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Phrasing in collaborations section[edit]

The wording is incredibly poor in that section, with multiple uses of the word "also." We should rework it so it's somewhat readable.

On a side note, the history of this talk section is pathetic and all involved should be ashamed. Stick Fig 14:02, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I tried. Any good? Also, I'm gonna put the request pic tag on, hope no one minds. Snoopydance 00:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the phrasing in the collaberations section, separating each collaberation into its own bullet. I also added that he was a member of the Revolutionary Hydra under that section, for lack of a better place to put it. The information can be moved if somebody has a problem with it. I don't know whether to create links or leave it if Wikipedia does that automatically. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stoplooklisten (talkcontribs) 01:36, 29 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Removal of "Catholic American"[edit]

In a recent revision, the word "catholic" was removed from the description - thankfully. I'm curious as to why that happened.

I'm curious as to why you said 'thankfully' after that. Plus I think a bigger question is why exactly it was there in the first place, since I don't really think Ben mentioning Catholicism in two Death Cab songs merits an assumption that he is Catholic. As far as I'm concerned, this page could claim that he's a Catholic, lapsed Catholic, Atheist, Muslim, or Scientoligist as long as somebody has evidence to back it up before they post. But then again I don't sign my edits, so what do I know?

Placement(and reference) of Pinwheels comment[edit]

at the bottom of discography section: It should be noted that the San Diego band The Pinwheels has no relation to Ben Gibbard's musical project, even though in interviews guitarist Gabe Acock alludes to a connection.

there's no reference, and it's in a random placement... any justification? Abcdemily 03:56, 5 March 2007 (UTC)abcdemily[reply]

Headings[edit]

I was wondering if better headings could be used in the section that lists his different projects? I have no idea when one band finishes and the next starts..... it's confusing. Who released "we become silhouettes? the postal service? I'm not sure.... --144.132.67.173 06:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life[edit]

I find this article greatly lacking in personal detail; this is supposed to be a biography, and yet most of the focus is in listing the numerous songs and collaborations Gibbard has taken part in. I suggest finding more personal info to flesh out "Personal life and career," including important, varied information such as what instruments he plays, what is education is, how he got his start, his family history, dating, etc. María (críticame) 17:06, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll compile some interviews and articles over the years and try to change that.

Some people consider him to be the Best musicaly talented singer/artist in recent years —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.118.231 (talk) 04:13, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What You Believe Without Reason[edit]

This is an unreferenced addition to the discography and is something of which I've never heard. A google search of the title yields two results, one of which is unrelated and the other of which is this page. Unless this can be verified in some way, I think it should be removed. - DMurphy 19:36, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Randall thornberry[edit]

the net is full of claims that ben works with randall thornberry. Who is he? is this true? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.225.138.212 (talk) 06:44, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discography cleanup[edit]

I took the liberty of reducing the discography section to just the full-length albums Mr. Gibbard has appeared on and linked to the respective band's full discography. There was a lot of unnecessary information that could be found in other articles, making the information's presence in this article redundant and cluttering. -- Tdogg241 (talk) 18:29, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Engagement to Zooey Deschanel[edit]

Shouldn't this be added to the 'Personal Life' section?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.161.142.167 (talk) 00:18, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gibbard's religion[edit]

Gibbard himself denies practicing Catholicism in a direct quote in the article. Unless you have updated sources to the contrary, you'll need to remove the category Category:American Roman Catholics as he does not self-identify. For further reading, please see WP:BLPCAT and Wikipedia:Categorization/Ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality. Elizium23 (talk) 03:02, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

“Styrofoam Plates”[edit]

This song, while stupidly sad, has always resonated with me, in many ways it perfectly sums up the relationship I have had with my own father. I was even raised in the suburbs of Denver, which leads me to my question: did Gibbard actually live in Denver? I see that he was a Navy brat and lived all over the place, but I can’t find anything about if/where he lived in Denver? I have always been curious if he lived in the same town that I grew up in.
