Demographics?[edit]

Hi, I noticed you changing the demographics for several places. I was wondering why you are doing this and where you got the data from. Please cite your sources. Thank you. --ChrisRuvolo 06:57, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hi BAMJ: where are you getting your figures for Caucasian population? The numbers, after your edits, no longer add up to 100%. Keep in mind that the Hispanic totals were counted separately in the 2000 census. Antandrus 02:18, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

To answer the demographic changes i make, i use the "White Alone" percentages of Censuis 2000 exclusively for the white population. I feel the first white percentages are inflated, and that the white alone pecentage is much more accurate.

Please do not do this. You cannot just change the U.S. Census numbers for the white population (and only the white population). It is already explicit that for Census purposes "Hispanic" is considered a cultural or linguistic, rather than a racial category. Perhaps you may have a different opinion personally, but it is wrong to alter the Census numbers to reflect your personal definition of "whiteness". I am going to have to revert your changes. I encourage you to contribute to Wikipedia in some more productive way. Thanks.--Pharos 02:53, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I really want to keep this, so can i adjust it to say White (Not Hispanic) for Wikipedia purposes? There are some demographics that have that on this site before i came. (Look at California and Texas)
