Executive Order 13233

Kudos and thanks for your contributions to the EO 13233 article, Toytoy!. Please look at the link, on the Robots exclusion file article, to a webpage describing the extensive use of such coding by the White House website - to veil the scope of malfeasance perpetrated by the illegitimate administration. The Robots article hasn't been fleshed out yet, but there is a tangible degree of relevance perhaps meriting inclusion of a Wikilink in the EO 13233 article. I did not notice that! If I were a watchdog, I'll use a website grabber to dowwnload every possible WH pages everyday, and post it on my website, say, www.whitehouseforrobots.com, and let Google, Yahoo!, MSN, everyone index it. You can configure your own site grabber to ignore robot.txt. I think most WH pages belong to public domain. Am I right?

The robot.txt, I guess, is not a part of the Executive Order 13233. It may not even have a legal background. Anyway, laws are irrelevant when it comes to the Bushland. I guess you may want to put this information in some other relevant pages, say White House. I think some people will not like it. That's why we create individual articles for each exposed, alleged or proven case of abuse. During and after the WW2, many German POWs were well-treated by U.S. soldiers. They became friends of the U.S. As a Chinese Christian, I am amused by the generally sub-standard treatment of non-POWs offered by the U.S. today. Maybe it's because the Iraqis and Afghans lack the power to retaliate. If U.S. soldiers abused German POWs, German soldiers would had abused U.S. POWs as well. Therefore they evolved a live and let live mutual respect. However, this is not the case with this unfair war. Also not the case with most invasions after the Vietnam war. If the North Vietnamese had a strategic air force, the U.S. would not dare to do the carpet bombing and chemical warefare.

I think one article at a time is what we can do today. The U.S. involvement will end someday. Possibly not much better than the Vietnam retreat. But the Iraqi civil war among conflicting factions may continue for years to come. I hate to see it happen. -- Toytoy 13:23, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)

I take your point, but I can't see the fact that such an article would not be popular as a reason it shouldn't exist. (Each article for each individual case is not necessarily popular, but together they add up to a trend, and it's an important trend the mainstream US media is, for whatever reasons, not reporting.) I have heard him pitch a B7 (under C8), but not a C#8. The same person has made three edits. I'm trying to verify if the top of the piano is C7 or C8 (we hear talk of people pitching above the top of a piano, but at c8, it would be ridiculous). I'm calling music stores now! • Question, if Adam Lopez hit an E8 (E four octaves above Middle C), which is higher than C#8 (the notes start C,D,E,F,G,A,B, then C one octave higher than the starting C, with a # being halfway between the C and the D), why isn't the Guiness Record for E8? I mean, if he hit the E8 on television, shouldn't he have gotten credit for the E8, not the C#8. If you listen to Minnie Riperton's You Take MY Breath Away, the piercing, fresh from the Arctic high note she hits is F#7 for comparison. Sorry, I have setup my Privoxy to filter some annoying HTML tags including "color=" because I hate to read cluttered pages (large, small, blinking and colorful texts in several fonts). On my computer, I only see 16-point amber-colored Trebuchet on a black background flowing from left to right (no indents). When I edit talk pages, I may switch off the filter if people use these complex signatures. But sometimes I just forgot it. -- Toytoy 09:57, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure what happened, though; I mean, your Privoxy setting shouldn't alter the content, only filter it. If it's leading to this sort of incident, you might think about altering its settings; while this case was more perplexing than annoying, you might run into more significant problems in other cases. When you hit edit, the server will send your web browser an edit box filled with text. With Privoxy in the middle, it will filter the text and give the browser a filtered version.

Al Qaeda and Guantanamo

World Press Review (VOL. 49, No. 4) makes reference to "Al-Qaeda prisoners being transported to the X-Ray camp in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba." [1] Are there any other detainees there I should be aware of?

I ask this without prejudice to any of the other issues being discussed there. If it's a mix of Al Qaeda and other fighters, then I would be wrong to lump them all together as Al Qaeda. Article I and Article III tribunals

Aha! You beat me to this one, and by a few minutes, too! Here is what I had written so far, please feel free to incorporate as desired:

Article III of the United States Constitution vests the judicial power of the United States in the Federal Courts, and requires that all Federal judges have lifetime tenure and irreducable salaries. Therefore, any court created by Congress where the judges do not have lifetime tenure or secured salaries must exist under some other provision in the Constitution.

An Article I Court or Legislative Court is a Court established by the United States Congress pursuant to its powers under Article I of the United States Constitution, instead of under Article III. The existence of Article I Courts has been controversial, and their power has been challenged before the United States Supreme Court, which has determined that the Constitution places certain restrictions on Article I courts.

I've recently been posting lots of articles on common law topics (e.g. Leasehold estate, Third party beneficiary, Lesser included offense), and I have discovered that there is an unfortunate lack of consistency and connectivity in Wikipedia articles on the common law. I have therefore proposed at the largely defunct Wikipedia:WikiProject Law that we make a major project of overhauling the whole thing, one key area at a time. I've just gone and edited an old posting of yours on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Race and intelligence; it had a strikeout text section. However, you had this as <strike>...<strike> not <strike>...</strike>; as such, the tag didn't close, and possibly because it was html and not wiki-syntax it sort of... kept going. Which really fouled things up in Opera (though it was fine in IE)... it's strange, I'm sure I'd viewed that page before, when the VfD was live and it was okay. Perhaps a later edit to the page screwed something up?

Deletion

I did not delete said article due to the fact that it was not factual. I deleted it because it had a single line of text with no context and had been sitting on the database for two hours, exactly as you point out. That is a criterion for speedy deletion according to both the new and the old rules. Nevertheless, the deletion changes nothing. You are still free to create a better version of the article on whatever manner you see fit. The fact that I deleted it does not mean you can't re-create it on a better state. Try giving a read at Wikipedia:Stub and next time you create a very short article, please at least outline what the subject is about, why it is notable, what are its main positive and maybe negative points. It does not cost more than a few minutes of your time and it prevents incidents such as these from happening. Simple english/conlang?

Hey, I never noticed it before, when the discussion for your wiki killer proposal was going on, but, you labeled simple english as a conlang. Why do you consider it a conlang? I just consider it well...simple english... --Phroziac (talk) 19:24, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

From Basic English:

Basic English is a simplified English language with a small number of words created by Charles Kay Ogden and described in his book Basic English: A General Introduction with Rules and Grammar (1930).

Since the Simple English Wikipedia is more or less based on Basic English, I think it is artificial. Basic English was not developed in somewhere by some people. It was developed by, in fact, one linguist. I know each contributor do have his/her way to simplify English. Some may not even know anything about Basic English or other comparable linguistic efforts, they just learn from others and use their common sense. I think the Simple English Wikipedia would not be very "artificial" if there are many such common sense users. -- Toytoy 23:01, August 5, 2005 (UTC)

Spolied Vegetarians

I guess I can eat just apples and live very well. If I have the money, I can probably separate the minute amounts of protein from the sugar-rich apple. As long as you have money, you can do anything you want.

Vegetarianism, in my opinion, is for spoiled kids. When you eat vegetables, you discard lots of tissues. Humans cannot digest fiber. Therefore, many plants' roots, stems and leaves must be abandoned. We are not cows. We are closer to tigers. If I have the money, I can probably feed a great white shark using only plant-derived fats and proteins. I only need to throw away fibres and sugars.

I know some of you may say you're eating a whole cabbage. So what? Cabbages are grown in a highly fertilized field. To get your cabbage, it takes over 100 years of cultivation. Otherwise, you get weeds. These vegetables are on the top of the food chain. They consume nitrogen supplied from fertilizers. And it takes lots of efforts to keep bugs away from your cabbage. These are not normal wild plants.

Are you saying you never eat vegetables? And the meat you eat comes from the same (and most likely worse) "cultivation" methods as my diet (as a vegetarian). Furthermore, a vegetarian diet is cheaper. Meat costs more money than vegetables therefopre you don't need to be 'spoiled' to be a vegetarian. Fact: People cannot eat most wild plants. We simply cannot digest fiber. We have to consume highly refined plant parts. Either we grow high quality vegetables and manually process them or we let the cows do the job.

Eating an apple after a beef and potato meal is totally different from eating fruits and nuts only. Religious ideas aside, it will be highly inefficient to grow so many fruits and nuts for everybody on Earth. This is not a workable answer for all of us. 2. And buing Organic involves less "manual processing" (although still quite a bit I agree).

America/Indonesia cut down rainforests, graise cows on the for a couple of years then move on because they've created savvannah or desert. This is not good. We need the rainforests, not more desert. It takes a few days to destroy a rainforest but 50 years to grow a new one.
4. We should be putting these things into composting and using the compost to grow new vegetables.

Don't get me wrong, I eat eggs and milk but only organic free range because I need to know that the animals weren't raised in a large metal barn with no natural light and magnesium on the floor that gives the animals very painful sores and with so little movement (because they're so packed in) that they literally get to the stage where they can't move. People in Africa/S. America/Indonesia cut down their rainforests with or without the meat industry. You still need land to grow plant foods. Yes, the area used to grow grains shall be smaller but it will be offset by the endless growth of population in a matter of years. There will still be famine and poverty unless they take their pills and wear their condoms. Otherwise, there will be more grain fields and more plant food wastes. We feed our livestock with unedible parts, what do we do if we don't eat animals as well?

In addition, fields to grow grains consume more water, more infrastructure, more fertilizer and more pesticide than livestock farms. That means more waste and more pollution. Admit it, vegetarianism is not a viable solution. The more artificial restrictions (no eggs, no milk, fruits only ...), the more problems.

By the way, it is extremely difficult to create compost from fiberous materials only. Try to bulid a compost using mainly straw, leaves and rice hull and you will know what I mean. Technically, we use hog and chicken manure to accelerate fermentation. Without animals, there will not be compost. However, this is not without its problems because animal manures may contain excess antibiotics. If it was just Africans/S. Americans/Indonesians cutting down the rainforests then that would be better than multinationals doing the same thing but I do take your point about population growth. There is enough natural resources in this Earth for each and every person to live without needing to cut down rainforests ...etc... but they don't do it this way. They do it the cheapest and "Easiest" way possible. So what if it's unsustainable.

You didn't take my composting point. Also think about crop rotations. Legumes, clover and some other plants actually re-nitrate (if thats a real word) the soil. This means that one doesn't need to keep cutting down more and more rainforests. A totally vegetarian world is sustainable and viable but we have to go about it right yet none of the World leaders want to take this on. Crop rotation is easier said than done. Farmers are highly speculative. If growing rice makes money, they'll grow rice in masse. It shall be easier to let some of them grow alfalfa at a time when growing rice makes money if you have a powerful, totalitaran, do-everything police state. But this is usualy not the case. Police state, yes; has power to do things, no. There are hundreds, if not more, external factors that break crop rotation plans. It's generally easier to let animals and factories to do the jobs (machines, fertilizer, pesticide, DNA tweaks). However, the more you do, the less a farmer earns.

A totally vegetarian world is utopia. Aborginal peoples everywhere are eating plant foods along with insects and any available animals. Most of them are still in shortage of protein (oedema, big stomaches). -- Toytoy 12:23, August 6, 2005 (UTC)
