Encouragement[edit]

Hi SmthManly, I don't know you from Adam, so I have absolutely no agenda here. I happened to see your note on Raul's talk page, and can tell you're having a hard time right now, both on Wiki and in real life, apparently. I just want to say that I know how stressful it can be here sometimes; it seems like it's more about politicking than making an encyclopedia. And personalities sometimes seem to come before the project. But in spite of all that, Wikipedia is a great idea, and every editor is valued and needed. I urge you to reconsider your decision to leave. If I can offer you any assistance at all, please feel free to call upon me. I am a good listener. If you do decide to leave, please let me thank you for your contributions. I know you did the main page updates, and that is a vital task here. With kind regards, Jeffpw 21:08, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SmthManly, I'm so sorry to hear this news. You've been a steady, valued contributor; whether you return to Wiki or not, I wish you Godspeed. Best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:44, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am so glad you are reconsidering! I know several people were disappointed that you were considering leaving. If you think you need a wikibreak, perhaps you should take one. However, it certainly doesn't have to be all or nothing. You could cut back on general editing, and the things you find stressful, and just do the things you enjoy (like the Today's Featured Article tagging). And you certainly don't need to feel silly about being stressed out by events here. you're not the first, and absolutely not the last to get aggravated by policies and users here. Please let me know what you decide to do. I am happy to fill in for you on TFA, but would be happier still if I knew I had supported a contributer here in remaining with the project. And by the way, I voted Keep on the Airline destinations deletion nomination. Some people don't seem to think about the effect of their actions before they do things that distress others (though I try to assume good faith, it is trying, at times).Jeffpw 21:13, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Off the top of my head, Sandy, Rual and myself. I'm sure, too, that anyone involved in making sure that the FA process goes smoothly was distressed at your decision. I was aware of your work there through my own tagging of FAs (though I have the less glamorous task of adding {{facfailed}} tags to articles). You do something very important here, though most don't see or appreciate it. Those who work in that area, however, appreciate it a lot. If you are still sititng on the fence about leaving, why don't you just remain for the FA stuff for now, and see how you feel later? I am not trying to pressure you, but it's just a shame to see a valued contributer quit in disgust. Jeffpw 21:25, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nice to see you posting again! I hope you've decided to stick around; your departure would be a loss to the project -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 22:18, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spirit SJO[edit]

Hey SmthManly- I would add it because it was posted in the Miami Herald and like you said, you even know the flight schedules. But if you really want to you can delete it until the formal announcement is made. I'll leave it up to you. Sox23 22:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL- i'm having a stupid day....as for SJO, I would say go for it; if anything changes you can always delete it from the page. Since you've seen the schedules I think its okay to add because there will probably be an announcement soon. Sox23 22:42, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I usually just list destinations served "nonstop" from the airport that I'm editing (I just like that better for some reason) even though technically you could include direct flights. As for the leak...just say it wasn't you?! Or I could add it if you want..just give me the info. Sox23 22:48, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Does a nonstop BOS flight begin on February 14? / The nonstop wasn't needed even though you meant that it would be nonstop as opposed to direct / Do you think an announcement for SJO is imminent/soon? Sox23 22:55, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't worry about the reverted Boston destination (it isn't truly a nonstop flight from FLL and whoever deleted it probably feels how I do about nonstop flights) And maybe we should just wait until the airline releases the announcement and gets permission from the Puerto Rican government...shouldn't be too long seeing how every other destination has been cleared. I would say the second Spirit announces SJO the FLL page is there waiting for you! Sox23 23:08, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way have you heard how they are voting on whether or not to delete the airline destination pages? That's rediculous they must be out of their minds!! Sox23 23:09, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can add whatever you want but I wouldn't add nonstop to the LAS page...Vegaswikian will revert it before you can hit the save button! lol. However, if 66.32.103.153 deletes "nonstop" again I would just leave it (there's less than a month left before it will be deleted anyway). Sox23 23:20, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As for the "destination page issues," I wouldn't leave wikipedia over it. I really think that the vote will pass to keep them around (and if it doesn't we can just transfer it to the airline page (however crappy it will look)). Besides, if you leave wikipedia who will edit FLL with me, 66.32.103.153?! lol Sox23 23:24, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you add SJO to FLL's destination page? Sox23 04:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey SmthManly- is the information right on the FLL page with SJO beginning April 21, 2007? Because I thought you said SJO was going to begin sometime in May? Just wondering. Sox23 22:36, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mainpage date[edit]

I think we may have gotten our wires crossed. I thought you were going to continue tagging articles, in spite of your wikibreak. I noticed that it hadn't been done for January 20-22, so have done this. Should I continue, or do you want to go back to doing it? Jeffpw 10:17, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad to hear that you intend to stay. In the meantime, I had asked Schutz to look into automating the main-page-to-come template, as well as letting him know about an important new template we are rolling out (this is something you should be aware of as well). Raul654 18:47, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Great news, SmthManly! I enjoyed the task, but I have a lot of other things to work on, so I don't mind at all giving it back to you. Happy to hear you're back contributing again. Cheers, Jeffpw 09:07, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

I just wanted to let you know that I changed my vote to weak keep in that AfD (diff). My concerns there should explain my position. I was also affected by your comment on my talk page.

I would also like to say that I have also contributed to articles on the subject, for instance I wrote the first version of AOM French Airlines (permanent link), which I am still quite proud of. Writing an article on an obscure French airline which existed for a decade and where most of the material is in a foreign language is not easy. I also wrote the stubs for two of the airports served: La Tontouta International Airport and Le Lamentin Airport.

The reason for my shameless self-promotion is related to my basic gripe: lists of destinations should be written for posterity, we should record not only where airlines fly but where they flew, that is encyclopedic content. I would also like to see more article text on routes and equipment. As it is now these articles are like timetables.--Oden 21:20, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NKS fleet age[edit]

No wonder the number was so high....if you know how go ahead and do it (I have no idea) but if not just delete the fleet age from the page. thanks Sox23 00:02, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

great Sox23 00:45, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New ArticleHistory template[edit]

Hi, SmthManly. I wanted to make sure you're aware of {{ArticleHistory}}, as you'll be encountering it from now on when adding mainpage dates. (Not all FAs have it yet, but many do, and more will be migrated as soon as the bot gets throught them all.) The template itself has a parameter for the date, which automatically changes the text from past tense once the date occurs. So, when you encounter the template on a page, you only need to insert the date parameter in the template as (in the example of Seabirds) |maindate=February 2,2007 The idea is to eliminate so many templates on talk pages by combining FA article info into one template. If you have any questions, pop over to the talk page at the template. Best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:07, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I'm understanding you correctly, I noticed the same problem, commented on it, and I think it was fixed yesterday. Can you double check, and give me an example where the date isn't wikilinked if you find it? Thanks. Any questions, you can go to the ArticleHistory template talk page, as the bot programmers are more knowledgeable than I am. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:14, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, just to make sure I expressed myself clearly :-) If you do encounter {{ArticleHistory}} when adding mainpage date, just add the maindate parameter. If you don't encounter the template on an article talk page, just add the date the way you've always done. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:23, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, SmthManly - you don't have to keep notifying me, unless a problem comes up. I periodically go through the archive and check them, but you always beat me to it :-) Eventually, as all the articles get switched over (we're working hard), you'll find less and less without the template. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 03:54, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's pretty messy because a lot of the older articles have removed templates from their talk pages, so we have to go looking for missing pieces of history. You have to be pretty well immersed in FAC, FAR, and GAC to know where to look for all the pieces; I'm not sure it will be worth all the time to bring you up to speed on it, because we'll <hopefully> be done by the time I could explain it all to you. Thanks so much for the offer ! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Think about it this way - it's good we are doing it now. Imagine what it would be like if we waited another 5 years ;) Raul654 04:44, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, SmthManly. I *think* we should now be caught up on the ArticleHistory templates on main page request articles, so if you come across any without the template from here on in, can you let me know? Thanks, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:57, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uh...I've been editing wikipedia since about September 2, 2006 (I don't know if there's a way to check) but I mainly focus on imporving airline/airport articles and check/edit/improve pages on my watchlist every day....I've participated in discussions and am a member of WP:Airports and WP:Airlines (most recently I nominated and changed the Midway Airport article from Midway Airport to Chicago Midway International Airport)...I think pretty much sums it up...Sox23 01:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I need help!!!![edit]

I bet you are wondering who I am and what I need you for. I need help. I saw that you edited a page on the FLL site and I was wondering if you can help me post an airport diagram for the airport in West Palm Beach. I am interested in airports and all things having to do with transportation and I wanted to see a diagram on PBI's page because I feel like this airport is left out of being updated compared to FLL and MIA. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Algon1985 (talkcontribs) 05:46, 13 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Spirit Air[edit]

Hey SmthManly- I have added a new section to the Spirit Airlines article...entitled "New Routes". However, as Spirit did not list if these were daily nonstops on their website (and you know a lot more about Spirit than I do) I was wondering when you had time if you could tell me the frequencies of the upcoming new flights out of FLL (to P.R., C.R., Venezuela, etc...), and double check the new routes I posted in the article to see if I am forgetting any...(I only really looked for the new routes out of FLL)...thanks again. Sox23 01:27, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks alot- I've made the changes to the article. Sox23 04:09, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey again SmthManly, recently I've been creating/updating my user page and I really like the "Have a message for me? Leave it on my talk page" template you have on your user page. Could you tell me what template you used? thanks Sox23 03:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chiclayo[edit]

It was on a thread on airliners.net [1]...I read about it too and thought about adding it to Spirt's page but I didn't and some other user ended up putting it on the page and I just fixed the order Sox23 21:41, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's done...I've removed CIX, LIM, & POS from the Spirit Page and made note to include only after the airline has announced the routes and/or they get gov't & USDOT approval Sox23 03:53, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Banning a User[edit]

Thank you for answering my question. I had already removed the question from your page because I decided to just file a dispute. As for how I found you. I was looking for someone who seem to have the capability to ban a user. So, I figured people who have the capability to list an article as "Today's Featured Article" would know a thing or two about banning. So, I looked at yesterday's featured article to find who had listed it and it seemed that you had. I apologize if I was a bother. It is a rather random and odd way to find someone.

Sooo[edit]

I have no idea what is going on...I have never heard of an Ultra-Low-Cost-Carrier...and charging for checked bags and drinks??? I guess we'll see how this plays out- who knows it could just work for Spirit. I'm interested to see how it takes to public opinion. What do you think of it? Sox23 03:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Im scared as to what's going to happen when I go on vacation this summer for 2 weeks (I'll probably spend 2 MORE weeks fixing everything)..but my teachers piled me on w/ homework today and seeing as I've been on the computer (mostly editing) for most of the night I have yet to start it!...so anyways good luck again w/ ur job search and I'm sure I'll hear from you later in the week Sox23 04:13, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Miami Page Update[edit]

I noticed your update to the Miami page. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain your characterization of the satellite image is incorrect. The bottom corner of the dark patch at the top of the image is the intersection of I-75, I-595, and the Sawgrass Expressway. So, the image's northern boundary is just south of Pompano Beach (still in Broward). --Gintar77 04:07, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship[edit]

Hey SmthManly- seeing as I've been here for over 6 months now (Sept. 2, 2006) I was thinking about trying to get adminship. I don't know what my chances are but I think people can see I'm trustworthy and don't vandalize pages...[I correct them ;)] A few months ago you said something about how nominating a user is better so I was wondering if you could nominate me. If you need any info. just ask...I know I'll be back sooner than I think seeing as I can't go more than a day w/o correcting the changes people have made to pages on my watchlist (you know how that is). Columbine High School massacre Article[edit]

Hello.

Let me begin by complimenting you on your "Columbine High School massacre" article. That is the most complete articulation of that horrible event that I have ever read. I was particularly amazed to learn (as if for the first time) that Harris published a blog on his AOL website for two years before the events of April 20.

I am sure I heard that fact reported in the popular media immediately after the events occurred, but not unlike just about everyone else, I was so overwhelmed by the weight of the massacre, I didn't really absorb the full weight of it.

My God. Eric Harris published his "cry for help" on the Internet. He was so desperate to get caught that he even managed to get the police to read it by publishing death threats, in addition to all of the other horrible imagery and "kill em all" sorts of stuff that he published.

Anyway, two things to consider. One, the full content of that blog (which should be read by every Intenet-savy teenager in America - so they can recognize the warning signs) can no longer be found on the web. (At least not using my limited Googling skills.)

Second, this link (http://www.acolumbinesite.com/rebindex.html) is to a single page of text from his blog. It includes the news that four of his pipe bombs have been completed. If you deem it proper, please attribute this link to the "Warning signs" section of your article as follows:

....Harris' site had few visitors, and it did not become an issue until late 1997, when Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigator Michael Guerra was notified of the site after the parents of Harris' former friend, Brooks Brown, discovered that Harris was posting death threats aimed at their son. Guerra discovered the website also contained violent threats directed at the students and teachers of Columbine High School. Other material included blurbs Harris had written concerning his hatred of society in general and his desire to kill those who annoyed him. As the date of the shooting neared, Harris also began noting the completion of pipe bombs on his site[4 - New reference to the link above here], as well as a gun count and "hit list" of individuals he wished to target, although it never mentioned his overall plot.[5] As Harris had admitted to having explosives, Guerra decided to write a draft affidavit for a search warrant of the Harris household, but it was never filed. The existence of the affidavit was concealed by Jefferson County and not revealed to the public until September 2001, as the direct result of an investigation by the television show 60 Minutes.....

Thanks again for a great article.

Hi. When you uploaded Image:Amazing race 9 map.png, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Re: BGI Format[edit]

I understand your note about Grantley Adams Airport at WP:Caribbean. I've read through the MOS page on WP and it is true I have updated the page accordingly within the WP: Manual of Style guidelines. The reason being the Barbados airport, is an important airport as the hub of the Eastern Caribbean. GAIA's airlines and routes change quite frequently. (Sometimes less than before the season is over.) Which means there needs to be a way to quickly and methodically update GAIA and the accompanying airport page every few weeks or so. If you know the airport goes to "Munich" but not the name that means you have to constantly go fishing for the name just to make a 5 second change.

I've gone through and checked every airline's website for their current routes at GAIA as of recently (because I know some of the routes listed at GAIA have been dropped over a year ago or so), and I've corrected the short comings of the old list format. The old list was also encouraging persons to add every-- single air destination (that a specific airline flies to) as oppose to which direct-gateway GAIA etc. was linked to/from GAIA. E.g. The idea is supposed to be-- "If I can get on only one- plane and end up at GAIA, where could that plane be from?".

Also consider the other article of WP:Aviation's current list is quickly becoming outdated. For example the "Air alliances" ( Oneworld, SkyTeam, Star Alliance) had quite a few dead route entries.

Also in the old format it said flights there were to Saint Lucia under one airline-- but not to which airport in Saint Lucia (the regional airport or International one) meaning when I gave someone the URL to GAIA as a source on how to fly from Central Europe the old list was ineffective for a number of reasons..

The new list also allows the ability to neatly add references to each route because everything on Wikipedia is supposed to have references as well. In the process of updating the Barbados airport I also noticed many errors at other airports in WP:Aviation section but I don't have that kind of time to go back and fix all of them. It was allowed to get that way because people didn't click through those airport links to fix the matching route at the other airport.... I have other Caribbean articles that are more important to bring up to date. For starters the old format is so scattered and needs an upgrade. The airlines structure in the Caribbean is also currently under review. Barbados is paying more and more into LIAT which is slated to merge with Caribbean Star and the Barbados government is placing more pressure on LIAT to homeport out of BGI as a trade off for sinking more money into it. So the flights at Barbados are going to be changing soon quite a bit. Also the Barbados government is talking to the French territories about direct airlinks to their islands which is going to bring up the issue of naming e.g. Basse-Terre and Basseterre are not the same place and the airports in each are not the same place those will need to be differentiated when LIAT's routes are shifted at GAIA.

As a hub airports to-from Barbados change on a seasonal basis. The WP:Aviation project appears to be getting out of date because it doesn't take the time to properly link airports together so that corresponding data can be streamlined and be consistent. This new format at least means GAIA's routes will be updated because I have family working at airport that are my eyes and ears on new route changes but I don't have the time to sort through the hundreds of airports out there and looking up names on other airports because someone was too lazy to add click-through links. I only have the time to keep a few airports up to date someone at WP: Aviation has got to come up with a better way of helping to keep the rest up to date.

Also Barbados has also had 2 airlines under the same name that were not the same. Caribbean Airways was supported by the Barbados government at one point, but it is not the same Caribbean Airways from Puerto Rico. There have been calls to bring back Caribbean Airways again because of the BWIA downfall of flights so that's got to be made clear that Caribbean Airlines previously in Barbados isn't the same as Puerto Rico, nor a possible resurgence. Miami-area special project: Your input needed![edit]

Dear SmthManly,

You appear to be active in WikiProject Miami, or have contributed a lot recently to Miami-related articles. I would like to invite you to contribute your opinions on a grant proposal for a project that may provide unique and helpful resources for Wikipedia in Miami.

Over the last six months, Wikipedia and Wikinews have been discussing a project proposal with the Knight Foundation which could create a new type of an environment for locally-oriented encyclopedic and news content. The general idea involves an official sanctioning of a local Wiki community in one or two charter areas, one of them being Miami. The Wiki community would be empowered to cover all things Miami -- even things that normally would not pass notability restrictions -- and cover both encyclopedic information as well as current events in the South Florida community. The proposal may even involve the creation of a physical "wiki space": some sort of a local room or office to coordinate efforts and provide community members with a place to create and edit articles.

I'm working on formalizing the proposal, and would like to invite you and other Miami contributors to a project brainstorming session via chat. The chat will take place this Saturday, July 14th, at 12 noon Eastern Time (9am Pacific). If enough people can't make it there will be an additional repeat meeting at some later time.

The online meeting will happen using IRC on the channel #wikipedia-miami -- you can use your own chat client or the use this handy link to join the chat. Please don't forget to provide your username when you log into chat.

I look forward to talking with you. Thanks! -- IlyaHaykinson 04:23, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am actually holding two more chats that are more targeted at Wikinews users but where you would be just as welcome. Those chats are on #wikinews on Sunday July 15th at 4am Eastern (for non-US users) and 12 noon Eastern. If more WP Miami users can't make Saturday, though, I'll schedule a separate second Miami chat too. Thanks! -- IlyaHaykinson 05:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Since we never did get a chance to talk, let me know when would be a good time to get you up to speed in what I'm trying to accomplish. If you're interested in helping bring a more active Wikipedia community to South Florida then I'm totally game for finding a good time to chat. Cheers, -- IlyaHaykinson 08:25, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The other chats went ok -- only one person made it from the Miami side, and maybe about a dozen Wikinews people. I'm generally available most evenings, except Friday evenings or this coming weekend. -- IlyaHaykinson 20:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, how about 10 or 11pm EDT time on Monday? -- IlyaHaykinson 16:38, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let's talk at 10:30pm EDT. You can Skype-chat me at ilyahaykinson, Gtalk haykinson@gmail.com or AIM "zonnend". If you prefer IRC then I'll be logged in around that time at -- on irc.freenode.net, nickname IlyaHaykinson. IlyaHaykinson 22:02, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to be 18 next summer and I really want to get a job at the airport (in my case MDW and probably working for SWA b/c they control about 90% of MDW) What do you think of my chances for a seasonal job being say a baggage handler? Sox23 04:31, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plug-In Hybrids[edit]

I am curious about what happened with regards to the Plug-In Hybrid entry being "Today's Feature Article," yesterday, 8/22/07. It does not appear that this happened. Do you know why not? Many thanks! Fbagatelleblack 15:58, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help With Motorized Bicycles[edit]

User:Rope light has been posting and reposting a link to a commercial site, Bicycle Engines, on the Motorized bicycle page. If he tries again, how do I escalate the issue to prevent him from commercial posting in the future? Thanks. Fbagatelleblack 19:59, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page move/ Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport[edit]

Hey SmthManly- I need help moving a page...Williams Gateway Airport (and corresponding talk/history) need to be moved to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport...I tried moving it but it says "This page cannot be moved...ask an admin." The information has been moved over (via copy/past from another user) but all of the article's history is still on "Williams Gateway Airport" and there are several double redirects as a result of this error. Can you do anything to help? Sox23 00:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MIA moves[edit]

Thanks for the update. I just checked, and AZ is now operating flights out of Concourse H, though your message indicates their check-in counters are at J (like DL and AF). Also, AR is also now running flights out of J. I will update the page accordingly. Thanks again. MRasco 18:18, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your welcome. Whenever I see Copa operating flights out of H, I'll move them back, but for now I think it's best to keep it as is. MRasco 15:01, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

English Wiki and the Accent[edit]

Hi! I saw that you reverted another editor's edit in Rafael Núñez International Airport citing that this is an English wiki. But if that is the case, then why is it that the article for Bogotá and Medellín have accents in them? Is there a rule for this matter? Is it not ok to put accents in Spanish names, but putting umlauts in German names (such as Zürich) in airline destination lists ok? Elektrik Blue (talk) 23:12, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • You have a good point. And I am surprised that this is not covered by some Wikipedia stylesheet. Personally, the "rule" I follow is that if the article for the city uses an accent, then I might as well use the accented form in the destination list. I find your suggestion to write the Japanese name for Japanese cities and to use the German name instead of Munich a bit extreme. This is, after all, an English wiki, like you said. However, if the English wiki deems it acceptable to have articles of the cities to be accented (after all, the non-accented articles redirect to the accented ones), then I don't think having accents in the destination lists for these cities would be bad. This means putting the tilde in Sao Paolo, but not putting the Kanji for Tokyo. Cheers. Elektrik Blue (talk) 01:19, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CMH[edit]

Someone was telling me it should be disamb. because of Columbus (GA). I looked on some pages and found "Columbus", and some had "Columbus (OH)", so I decided to just make them all the same for once. Do you think I should change it back? Sox23 02:02, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Columbine Victims.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Columbine Victims.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
