Be Bold![edit]

You might have already seen this term used here before, but if not, I'll go ahead and explain it. When you want to create a new page or do something Bold, then do it! It makes wikipedia just that much of a better place.

I'm saying this because of that editing comment you left on Strawberry Panic. I ended up making that page on Dengeki G's Magazine as you wanted someone too, though this was mainly because I knew I could create it with enough information that I knew to start up the article. Next time, I'd suggest you just go ahead and do it yourself rather than having someone else do it for you. It makes being a wikipedian much more satisfying. ;)--Juhachi 17:30, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, actually, that was my last edit of the night, so I wasn't going to look up info about the magazine (I had no info on them) then and make a stub about it right then. I would have done it when I woke up, but I figured nobody more informed than me would do it if I said "I'll make that article when I wake up". ;P -Aknorals 07:50, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Date linking.[edit]

It's only worth linking date like entities in a very few contexts.

  1. Where the date is itself important - so that there is value in following the link - decreasingly often as WP grows.
  2. When the text is about the entity e.g. a link to 2000 or 2001 in The Millennium.
  3. When a date includes a day and month, and formatting preferences will be invoked by linking it, e.g. 10 April 1962.
  4. There is also the process of linking to "[Year] [month] in <subject>" via a piped link, e.g. 1999 in television as 1999 - this eventually can suffer the same problem as the first point, and is seen by some as an undesireable Easter egg - i.e. taking te user to a difernt plce than expected..

See WP:DATE for details, and the talk page for 48 archived pages of wrangling over the exact meaning of "links valuable in context" and "the correct use of the non-breaking space" or "the endash". Rich Farmbrough 13:19 1 July 2006 (GMT).

Anime/Animes[edit]

Hello Aknorals, thank you for helping to edit Ōkina otomodachi etc. A language is changing and the plural form animes is actually attested (like “two beers, please”), especially I assume it’s common in the fandom (you might want to google it) http://www.morewords.com/word/animes/ http://www.wordwebonline.com/en/ANIME

After all anime is countable when it means a specific series. But I’ll try to be conservative here, as Wikipedia is for general people. Thank you for the advice =) If you find any other problem, please do fix it mercilessly again! —Gyopi 15:27, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protection?[edit]

Hi, Aknorals. I noticed that your user page has been vandalized a lot recently. Would you like me to semiprotect it, to prevent anonymous and new-account edits? Just drop me a line if you're interested and I'll take care of it. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 08:21, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've never had a legit new user post on my talk page or user page, so sure. --Aknorals 08:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 08:34, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow[edit]

Somebody really doesn't like you, eh? I've only ever seen admins get that sort of attention before. Shiroi Hane 14:27, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, yeah, it's crazy consitering 98% of my edits are minor edits... Personaly I think it's quite sad the dude has nothing better to do than harass someone who's edits mostly comprise of linking one article to another -Aknorals 21:27, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goldom's RFA thanks[edit]

Thank you for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (53/2/1). I've spent the day trying out the new tools, and trying not to mess things up too badly :). I was quite thrilled with all the support, both from the people I see around every day, as well as many users who I didn't know from before, yet wrote such wonderful things about me. I look forward to helping to serve all of you, and the project. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. -Goldom ‽‽‽ 04:38, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Aknophobiac[edit]

I'll keep an eye on him, it's just ambiguous enough I don't want to block him immediately. Be sure to leave warnings for him if he starts vandalizing. Though, I'm going to bed soon, so if it gets bad and he remains unblocked, let WP:AIV know. -Goldom ‽‽‽ 12:26, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't his name go against the user naming policy? Also: [1] seems to have nothing better to do than tag accounts that probably don't exist as sockpuppets of user:EnthusiastFRANCE presumably to insult various admins as well as myself -Aknorals 12:29, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Same goes with This person --Aknorals 12:32, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And this one --Aknorals 12:35, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's certainly all very odd, I think I'll ask about that, as it could just be him doing that too... It would be against naming policy if it was referring to you, but what I meant was that it could possibly not be. He also doesn't seem to have done anything else since then yet, at least. Also, thanks for catching that fake signature on my page. -Goldom ‽‽‽ 12:56, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Even if the latter 3 aren't him, they are disrupting wikipedia to prove a point. -Aknorals 13:56, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I posted it all on WP:ANI to ask for another opinion of what was happening, and all the ones from the last two have been deleted, and them blocked. I think the person doing it didn't notice the link to the first, so I'll do that now. -Goldom ‽‽‽ 14:21, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't think that's possible - the Block page does not accept blocks for user accounts that do not exist or that are already blocked. All my blocks are based on information coming in via the live RC feed provided by IRC bots, and I have not actually seen the user pages that have been tagged by the vandal. Therefore, I am 99.99% certain that all the accounts I blocked are ones that have actually been created. Thanks, Tangotango 13:48, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(not to passerbyers: this was a responce to User_talk:Tangotango#user:EnthusiastFRANCE.27s_new_game) Ah, I wasn't aware of that.... Just be carefull about the person who puts the tag there, as that was his game on the 12th to the 13ish. -Aknorals 13:51, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry. I've been checking all the accounts to make sure they are real. I've dleted 250 fake ones so far, I know how to tell the difference. You can't block an account that doesn't really exists, the software won't let you. Those were real accounts, but EnthusiastFRANCE decided to tag them himself since they were blocked and he coudln't use them. Helpful eh? pschemp | talk 13:54, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's funny =P ... You'd think he'd have something better to do... -Aknorals 11:06, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{hndis}}[edit]

Hi, I have reverted your edit to {{Hndis}}. I take your point about a more specfic image being desirable, but in the meantime some image/icon is better than nothing. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:36, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, what useful purpose does the current image serve? I can't see it with my peripheral vision (as I was able to do with all of the color images, even the "faded" one), so I only see the image after I have already seen all of the disambiguation page! And when I did see it, I thought it was the new version of the "normal" disambiguation template, as I was identifying the template by the image. I noticed it was different at first because the image "hung" over the template in an ugly fashion. While I still wish to know why this unusefull image is being used on the normal disambig template to begin with, (as people with vision imparment, or people such as myself, who run at a high resoution, would be unlikely to make it out), if it should be used, at least don't let it hang over the edge. -Aknorals 13:48, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Note: I already fixed it. [2] Sorry, but that image hanging really annoys me (as does image stacking... i'm finding <br clear="all" /> and <br clear="left" /> are my best friends these days for articles). -Aknorals 14:00, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On a related note, why has Template:Disambig been protected so long to begin with? It's not a "high risk template", and I thought protect wasn't supposed to be used in support of the current version.... -Aknorals 13:54, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removing semi-protection[edit]

Hi. I've removed the semi-protection on your talk page. I know that vandalism of talk pages can be a problem, but it's important that users be able to be contacted by newbies with questions and concerns about things they don't understand. I hope you understand - please feel free to contact me with any questions. Phil Sandifer 19:09, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, thanks... I've actually been meaning to tell a admin to do that for a month or so now... =P -Aknorals 09:02, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changing Users' PNG --> SVG File Type[edit]

Aknorals, why change users' file types for their graphics? You didn't make a comment about it. -John Wallace Rich 04:58, 27 November 2006 (GMT)

Well, the main point is so that the outdated raster can be phased out in favor of the vector graphic. Please see Commons:Transition to SVG. In this particular case, the PNG is 21KB, whereas the SVG is only 2KB. Of course, you are free to use the PNG version on your user page if you so wish. -Aknorals 06:07, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It sounds reasonable enough. Thanks! -John Wallace Rich 21:27, 3 December 2006 (GMT)

The Witcher - "TAGES Issues" section[edit]

Would you be kind enough to comment on my proposed deletion of that section (the deletion of which you've already reverted once), at Talk:The Witcher (video game). Thanks! --VPeric 10:40, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

omg![edit]

There was a speedy deletion request using Twinkle that was added here, but I removed it since it wasn't you who started the original article. I did, at omg!, which I think is just a tad more important than that anime show. Mike H. Fierce! 05:09, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ONOS!!! How on earth am I going to go to the article for Oh My Goddess! without typing in very long words separated by underscores now?? Looks to be that you are having some sort of OMGWTFBBQ!
Also: blah, gossip. -_- -Aknorals (talk) 11:11, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 8[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of most popular given names, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Minato. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Notice

The article I, Otaku: Struggle in Akihabara has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced "fan tribute" article stub. Not much on the author's article either. Didn't find any RS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
